Welcome to One Box for Hope, Inc.

We are a California 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Organization that strives to improve the lives of the children who live in impoverished areas of Nicaragua. Please take a look and see what were are all about. We hope that you will join in and support our cause.
100% of proceeds are hand delivered and distributed by us to the children in Nicaragua. Photos are taken and posted so you follow your donation to delivery!
All donations are tax-deductible!
2018 Update
Laura traveled to Nicaragua in February to distribute our donations. Unfortunately, our mom passed away and Laura had to come home before she distributed everything. Our goods are at a friends house awaiting our next visit.
We hoped to visit in September, however, a civil war broke out in April. Nicaragua is not safe to visit. Until then we cannot go and deliver our donations.
We received new clothing donations from Resurrection Catholic school in June. We are looking into donating these goods to another organization assisting with the support of Nicaraguan refugees in Costa Rica.
In October, we donated Spanish literature books to Indianola Elementary School where Gina works. They started a program called Accelerated Reader, but had no Spanish books for newcomer students to be able to read and participate in the program. We had extra books in storage from our Free Little Library and purchased a few more chapter books for the older students. We are happy that these books are being put to good use and that One Box for Hope was able to contribute to the local community too.
2016 Donation Drive
In May, Resurrection Catholic School in Sunnyvale will held their annual donation drive. This year they collected stuffed animals, shoes, and used baseball equipment. Baseball in Nicaragua's national sport. Maybe one day One Box for Hope can sponsor a team of our own!
Amazon Smile
Help us earn 0.5% back on your regular Amazon purchases with Amazon Smile. We have received $31.52 to date! Select One Box for Hope, Inc. as your organization to donate to.
2016 Visit
One Box for Hope is getting ready for our 2016 visit to Nicaragua. We will be bringing clothes, toys, medical supplies, and books in Spanish. We will also be bringing a Little Free Library, which will be the first official and registered Little Free Library in Nicaragua! Camila, who we met in 2010, will be our library Steward. One Box for Hope was lucky to be a chosen organization by both sides of our family for holiday donations. We raised over $1,600! We used some of this money to buy books in Spanish and to purchase the Little Free Library. This money will also be used towards buying rice and beans for the families that we regularly visit and for a pinata!
We are excited to go back and see everyone we help. So far we have 5 army bags, 5 boxes, and 2 pieces of luggage packed! We know that we will be paying some out-of-pocket baggage fees, but it will be well worth it once we see how happy the kids are with their new toys and clothes!
Thank you to all who have donated. Please check back in a few weeks for photos and more updates!

Our Translator Came for a Visit this month!
We were fortunate to have our translator, Maria Auxiliadora Velasquez Noguera, come for a visit to California in September of 2015! She enjoyed seeing the sights in San Francisco as well as Monterey. We hope that one day she'll come back again.
